Bishop Monforton 12/01/13 Advent
12/01/2013 Bishop Monforton Advent Message
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden.
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed;
for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.
These first few lines of the Magnificat or Mary’s Song of Praise remind us that God is the source of all good things and constantly showers his blessings upon us. How do you and I “magnify the Lord?” How do you and I rejoice in Jesus Christ’s presence? This Advent Season is a season of blessing and hope as we joyfully anticipate a two-fold gift of our salvation: We anticipate the great sacred gift of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem and we prepare for his triumphal return to bring us home. In the holy name of Jesus is all hope.
