Every year the Office of Christian Formation and Schools sponsors RISE UP! LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE, diocesan youth conference (DYC), as our largest outreach event that celebrates our faith and love of the Lord! We are planning for hundreds of students to gather for over eight hours of music, inspirational speakers, and Sunday Mass with Bishop Monforton. RISE UP! LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE is designed to be open to any 7-12 grade aged youth wanting to attend; please welcome and invite them to participate in the life of the Catholic Church!
This year's RISE UP! LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE will feature a Marian Procession, to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima. (Be sure to wear good walking shoes.) This will be a day of fun, faith and many graces that you won't want to miss!
20 of the 55 parishes in the Diocese of Steubenville attended RISE UP! LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE 2016 -- we would love to see even more of you there this year! Our goal is to have all 55 parishes and 3 Missions participating in this annual event! If you have a child in high school, we encourage you to call your parish to see if they will be participating. Perhaps if they are not already planning to participate, this will change if they hear that there are interested families! To help more youth attend, we are once again providing Free transportation via coach bus from select locations on a first come-first serve basis. You can reserve your seat on a bus when you register for the youth conference on Eventbrite!
Sean Forrest began his ministry as a full-time youth minister at St. James parish in Stratford, Conn. In January of 2000, Sean founded Movin’ With The Spirit, Inc. (MWTS), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to boldly proclaiming God’s eternal Truth and love. Since then, he has had the opportunity to speak to hundreds of thousands of teens and adults across the country and internationally. With a goal to both educate and inspire as many people as possible to open their hearts to God’s love, Sean uses his gifts of humor, music and straight talk to help break down the barriers that the world has built up.
